Rest day in Salt Lake City
Today we didn’t have to bike. I didn’t even camp, because I had the privilege of staying at the home of Don and Barbara Alexander. They are part of the Mountain Springs Church in Salt Lake City. Several families had volunteered to host riders in their homes.
Sunday morning we went with them to church, and we heard a sermon about “Jesus Preference for the Poor” based on Luke 4: 16 – 21. In the afternoon we went to the Sea to Sea camp and had a celebration meeting. It was windy at the campsite. There were clouds and an awesome rainbow, sign of God’s faithfulness.
Before we went to the camp, we visited the Mormon temple and tabernacle in Salt Lake City.
This is the center of the Mormon church and there are many Mormons living in Utah. We went in the tabernacle and were impressed with the acoustics. Because we were wearing our Sea to Sea tour shirts, the (Mormon) tourist guides asked us about the tour. We explained that we are biking through the US and the reason why.
I was glad to sleep in a real bed for two nights. Thanks for the hospitality, Don and Barbara.

Ad,
So glad that you are feeling better and that that long day you were able to do. Those church members gave support at crucial times! How important it is to have the support and encouragement of each other in the Body. Remember that our prayers are with you daily.
