Day 15 - Monday, July 14
Boise to Mountain Home —55 mi, 89 km
Boise is a beautiful city on a river with nice parks and much green. There are also many cyclists in this town. Most of the gardens and parks have automatic sprinkler systems, which are programmed to start spraying water over the grass at a certain time. Sometimes during the night a system starts and our tents get wet. The sprinklers are supposed to be shut off when we are camping, but it is not always like that.
Between Boise and Mountain Home, there is no city or village. Our leader Ed had warned us that we shouldn’t expect anything, not a coffee place, or restaurant. We were happy that he was wrong this time, when we found halfway a truck stop where they served good coffee. The ride went well and by 1 p.m. we were at the Mountain Home Junior High School. But while I was one of the first to put up my tent, things went wrong – one of the tent poles broke. So I had to go into the town and find a new pole. There is no real camping store in this small town and the only place where they had something was at Walmart. The only pole available was not really the right size (it is bigger and shorter). So, now my tent has two different size poles, which makes the tent 10 centimeters lower on the inside. But I can sleep. “Degage pa peche” they say in Haiti. In English that means “making do is not a sin”.
(P.S. Also my camera was not working today, so no pictures.)

Ad, We are enjoying keeping up with you on your blog. We have taken a look at some other blogs (not all!) and have awarded you the "BEST BLOGGER" prize. Your blog gives just the right amount (ie not too much) of personal comments, glimpses from the road, daily life, etc. It is attractive, readable and gives us a few visuals. And you post quite regularly. And finally, you link us to the other pages when we want to check out things more in depth. There you have it: Congratulations!! The judges decision is final, albeit somewhat limited is scope.
Patti and Joel
